Hi all,

I'm mike, a new jaguar owner since November, since I was about 10, and getting a lift in my school friends dad jaguar, I instantly fell in love with the marque, I dreamt of owning one and promised myself, "one day...."

Well, back in November that dream came true,, as I found everything in my life the perfect time to own one.

Took me months of internet searching, researching and constant arguing between my head and my heart.

An old XJ6? A new shape xf?....in the end , im not sure whether my heart or my head won, but I found my jaguar

Yes its an x type, yes its 2003, but I don't care, I absolutely love it,  the power of dreams.!

I opted for a 2.1 V6 petrol, sport, auto, in the gorgeous Zircon colour, lovely cream leather.

Comments I received when people saw it for the first time,  its the same colour as your eyes.....

My choice came down ultimately to my belief that a jaguar should have a sculptured bonnet and twin lights, a nice curvy rear quarter and boot . Of course leather, wood trim, an auto and an understated but executive paint colour is a must.

I don't care its 2003,  I don't care that it was built during the Ford ownership, "its a mondeo" I hear,  but its built in Coventry, in the jaguar factory,  and to be honest, what's wrong with the mondeo on which it shares the wheelplan?

I found it on the internet and never having seen the car, because of the distance from where I live, and after many phone calls to the family business, and many reassurances from them, I jumped on the train and went to buy.

A gamble I know, particularly after reading about some common faults relating to various x types... but I landed on my feet.

Have I done anything to it?  of course I have a bonnet mascot, I have some wood trim for the door cards to fit. But I do love the look of the 2008 grille, and  being an engineer by trade, im at the moment in the middle of making my own, with some of my own design changes, I find this far more satisfying than just buying one.

Well, that's my hello done....mike

Hi Mike , welcome to the club . The Jaguar x - type is a great car and you have picked the best forum for some great members with stacks of knowledge . Any questions or problems you have should soon be answered by the friendly members on here . Post some pics up when you can as we always like to see what you have bought .

Hi Mike, Ive had two X-Types, a 2.5SE and a 3.0SE. Both were great cars my advice check the sills as this can be problem, enjoyed both of mine and regularly received comments on how nice they were too which is always nice, hope you enjoy yours, Steve.

Hi Mike and welcome. I also had two X-Types. A 51 and 52 plated 2.5 and like yours a 2.1. A great model of car that still looks fresh now. I echo the sills warning and watch the exhaust sensors.
