x type alarm

Featured Replies

ive got a problem with my alarm it goes off for no reason and when I go to reset the door light on the dash says that a door is still open and the only way to reset is to drive it then it will lock.any thoughts

hi

At a guess, one of your door locks has a faulty switch

there's a switch inside each lock, door ajar switch, they can go sticky with age

it should say which door is playing up

usually if you take the door panel off and give the door lock a good dose of WD40, it should free it off

worse case, you might have to take the door lock off, give it a good clean and oiling and that should do it

cheers

Would second the above but I had a similar problem on my old X type and it turned out to be a switch inside the ignition switch barrel which told it that the key was out. a tiny drop of WD40 cured it. Still think it's likely to be a door switch but while you've got the tin in your hand a little squirt down the barrel won't hurt.

Good luck

thanks for the replies but I'm not sure its the locks, set the alarm last night and nothing until 8 o'clock this morning wen the alarm goes off could it be the sensors in the car rather than the locks
