Hi everyone , I have put this question up before got a reply but need someone who has may be had this problem before.

I have a 2.0 L diesel when I start my engine from cold it starts ok but when the engine gets warm it struggles to start but

the hotter the engine gets the harder is to start as anyone got any ideas any suggestions would be appreciated.

                                                                    many thanks

There is a hot soak issue that an ECU software update is meant to cure, but you would need to go to a dealer or specialist with the right equipment to update the software.

A specialist quoted me £75 to update.

Hi all

New to the group.  I have a x-type 2.0 2006.  Had the warm start issue whereby it would fire and hover around 500rpm with no accelerator function at all for about 10 seconds. Thereafter it would return to normal rpm and run fine.  Has been doing this for the past 5 months.

Today I took it to the local jag specialist for the ECU updating to latest software and all patches available.  I was very worried that I would be throwing money down the drain.  2 hrs later picked it up and it's like a different car.  Starts first time every time.  Took it for an hour drive and started up straight after.  Cost me £90.

I know they're old posts but hopefully the information will help someone.

ALLS GOOD NOW.

Too late for brianforsyth, but I'd recommend Bell Lane Garage in South Kirkby, near Pontefract. The ECU upgrade was an instant fix for the hot start problem on my X type 2.0D and fuel economy was improved to 55-60mpg (from 45-50). Cost £108 inc VAT, well worth it, got it done while I went for a breakfast and read my book (less than two hours). Don't bother chasing the SDD/Mangoose solution, I'd say - far too many ways for it to go wrong. Book in, get fixed ;-)
