Hello, I've owned my 54 S Type for three months and done quite a lot of work already. Today when travelling I tried to reset the trip-meter and the whole display has disappeared!

Is there a easy fix anyone please?  I've left it for a few hours and started it up again but the screen remains blank, absolutely nothing when you press the indicator stalk button.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Should've searched the forum more thoroughly, just disconnect the battery for 30 sec's, job done.  love the car, great forum a mine of info if you look properly.

many thanks

Welcome to the club, Steve.

Disconnecting the battery in an s type can cure a few things.

I changed my battery when it was almost 5 years old and it  immediately cured "Parkbrake Fault"

Peter.

Thank you for the welcome Peter, really appreciated.  I'm sure I'll be using the wealth of knowledge you have here quite often.

My car is thirteen years old but what a car, a dream to drive and rekindled the thrill of just driving.  It's the closest I'll ever be to owning a classic car and I'm fully aware

there maybe trouble ahead but I'm looking forward to all.  many thanks again,

Regards,

Steve.

I have had my s type for just over 4 years, and the only expenditure I have had is a replacement water pump.

I believe that the S Type [Mk3] will be a classic car in the future, and in my opinion, has all the attributes.  Great drivers car, wth bags of room for passengers, and has the grace to drive gently, and the pace to drive quickly.  AsBill Lyons said of the Mk 1, "Grace, Pace and Space"

Regards,

Peter.

In three months I've had the sump gasket and both rocker box gaskets replaced, the indicator stalk (the lights came on whenever) and the aircon repaired.

The car had only done 85k and looked immaculate.  I'm hoping that things settle down now and I can continue to enjoy it, so far it's all been worth it.

Best,

Steve
