Battery cables

Featured Replies

Having a bit of a problem with my 2.5 se. Already wasted £140 on a battery I didn't need (on advice). Battery warning light comes on when windscreen is defrosted (basically a heavy load mostly when stationary). Occasionally comes on and off with revs. The alt. Is probably as old as the car (2006) but its only done 29000 miles..I'm thinking I might try the battery cables next. Is this an easy DiY job? I think getting proper oe cables may be tricky?

Any advise welcome.

Matt

Halford do a huge range of Batt Leads & Earth Straps - Bum earth connections count for a lot and I know my earth points are corroded badly (Just forward of the Batt tray).  On my to-do list.  I think we have a Black Friday discount offer at Halfords too.

Good luck

Tony

Hi

Is your battery in the engine bay or boot

I'd be looking at all the connections, do no harm to split any and clean them

I take it you have had the alternator checked, with going with a new battery

worth checking the aux belts tight and in good condition as well

I have know bad connection, on the earths in side the car to give random faults

cheers

Joe
