Coolant Level Sensor

Featured Replies

I will soon be taking ownership of a 54 plate S Type Sport 200 from my farther, however it has one problem that I know about. The light for the coolant level keeps coming on although I know that it has enough coolant in it. I guess that it is the sensor that is faulty, so my questions are:-

1 - Where is the sensor and how easy to replace?

2 - How much are the sensors and can you get them anywhere else other than your local Jag dealer?

I know that his service agent has tried cleaning the contacts etc.

I know that I am just guessing it is the sensor, but most problems seam to be down to sensor failure these days. However if you have any other ideas I am open to suggestions.

hi

the level sensor is in the bottom of the expansion tank

you can get the sensor from british car parts https://www.britishparts.co.uk/jaguar-c11/jaguar-s-type-c24/cooling-heating-c62/expansion-tank-sensor-p4768

or sng baratt, its underneath back middle, be very careful when removing the hoses, the plastic stubs, go very brittle and break ever so easy, especially the small one top left

also one hose clips on, you have to press a metal clip to remove the hose, be cautious here as if you remove the clip, it can pop off and be lost very easy, there not available on there own

also I've seen this on some cars where a cheaper expansion tank has been fitted with no sensor fiited to the tank

cheers
