Hi, I have a 2009 prem lux 3ltr v6 diesel XF and it' a timing belt, Jag recommend having it changed at 105,000 miles ( had mine changed at 92,000 mls also you have a fuel pump belt at the rear of the V6 engine and it's a good idea to change that at the same time. No sure if the S has a different configuration but would of thought it was the same engine. Hope this helps and enjoy the car.

Hi

Just looked on auto data looks like there very similar to the 2.7 so have 2x timing belts

one front for timing one rear for fuel pumps

could tell you for sure if you know your engine code

cheers

I believe the answer is probably both belt and chain.  The 2008 workshop manual (2.7L D makes reference to the timing belt which drives the camshafts, but also to internal timing chains which connect pairs of camshafts.  In addition to this there are other belts for other purposes.

Can anyone confirm that the post 2010 V6 3LD has the same arrangements please?

The factory workshop manual for the 202-2015 XF 3.0D & DS shows exactly this, a belt and two chains.

Hi

Yes, two belts, one at front for timing and one at rear for hp fuel pump, there is a chain in each bank, but these generally last many many year and never fail.

cheers

Joe
