Adapative cruise failure

Hi to one and all. just joined here so hello. Im forced through hitting brick walls to try and see if anyone can help or answer my problem.

Im sure there is a thread here or the subject has been brought up before but, I have an XKR supercharged 2002, and the adaptive cruise has failed, been confirmed the unit is not working. I have been trying to find a way of turning this off through the ECU. I have been told by E and E services that this can only be done on 2003 models onward, although another source has told me this was an added option to fit these pre sale  and dealers then programmed the ECU to accept the ACC. can anyone help solve this as im looking at a hefty wad to replace the whole unit unless I get super lucky and find a 2nd hand unit through salvage
