Car dead

Featured Replies

Hi all , quick question 2011 xf  is the car.tried to start it but it was dead, so took the battery of and chargers it up. I don’t think the battery was dead , but put a charge in it. The car fired right up, but the sat nav and radio didn’t work for a while . The dash kept putting messages up. So is this just because the battery was taken off?, or is there an electrical fault?

 Thanks

How long did you charge the battery for? At rest, engine off a fully charged battery should read 12.8v. These cars do not like low voltages as strange things start to happen.

Hi Jim

its the father in laws car, so from what I can gather he was out for the day when it wouldn’t start so he charged the battery. Since then the electrics have played up ,satnav,radio,a/c,. I’m having a look at it today.

 Thanks for the reply
