Good afternoon all.  I'm a new member with a recently bought Jaguar XF 2 litre diesel automatic.

I've had problems with an intermittent fault of insufficient air intake through the EGR valve which I understand is a not-unknown problem with this model. However, analysis is showing a permanent fault as follows - POA14-13 Engine mount control circuit/open

Can anyone tell me how serious this is please and give me ideas for solving the issue?

Found this may be of help

CAUSES

  • Faulty Engine Mount 'A'
  • Engine Mount 'A' harness is open or shorted
  • Engine Mount 'A' circuit poor electrical connection

It means that the wire(s) connected from and to the component (sensor, solenoids, actuator, etc.) is either open (cut, broken, disconnected) or shorted (touching other wires, components, body). "Open" and "short" are common electrical terms. An open is a break in a wire or at a connection. A short is an accidental connection of the wire to ground or another wire.
In simple electronics, this usually means something won't work at all. With complex electronics (such as ECMs or PCMs) this can sometimes mean something works, but not the way it's supposed to.

How is the P0A14 code repair?

Start by checking the "Possible Causes" listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector's pins.

Hi Aubrey,

That's very helpful.  Thank you.  And it doesn't sound too costly either. Good news all round.
