My 2010 Xf premium luxury frequently shows Gearbox/handbrake/ dsc faults and until recently if I stopped and switched off they dissapeared after restarting, but now my gears fail to change up and I have to use the paddles to manually change up. I understand this could be a failure of a sensor on the brake? please advise thank you.

Hi this could be many things if you are on good terms with a local garage ask them to get any codes from the car via obd11/eobd reader. This just plugs into your car and will give you a good start point to fix it. If like my car dsc can fail with one of six sensors alone. this is why you need the codes. it maybe only one part that will fix it all. Hope this will help in some way.

The most common affliction associated with this problem is the battery being low on voltage especially if you restart the engine and the faults disappear.

Your first call is to ensure you have a fully charged battery and check it with a meter, 12.8v is what you should have.

Thanks for replies, the battery was replaced 10 months ago but will check voltage as suggested. I will also have the faults checked on a code reader, thanks again.
