Hello all, I'm currently looking into my first Jag. It's going to be our family runabout (I say that loosely) but as I can't do boring cars I would like to get a Jag. I'm mostly a fan of the old Xj series (blame my neighbour for having them in the 80s and 90s when I was growing up) and I think the period 2003-2009 X350 is probably best for our needs as I would like to fix an ISOFIX baby-seat in the back, so from what I have read that rules out the X300 series sadly as that's my preference. Unless the X300 can have ISOFIX retrofitted by Jag? (if so I'd go XJR)

Driven 2 Jags in my life (tested) 2016 XJ nice but I preferred the look of the 2005 XJ8, drove that just before Christmas and it was great, so relaxing and enough power to make me smile. I don't need this Jag to be 'fast' just have enough to be a Jag, looking at petrol only, XJ6, XJ8, maybe the XJR but that's probably more than I want to spend right now. Probably max £11K but ideally around £8K. Getting a good car is most important.

Is the XJ6 fast enough or is it a bit slow?

What do you recommend for me?

Thanks.

Hi Benjamin,

Welcome to the club.

Its a difficult choice, I am sure some if the members will be able to help with ideas.

I have owned s type, x type and XF.

I personally love the look of older cars.

Best Wishes,

Julie.

Thanks Julie, I really wish the child seats would go in the X300 variants easily but I think I'll go X350 because of the ISOFIX (less faff) and I'm kinda focusing on Xj8, XJR or Super 8 if I can find a good one in budget. The quad lights is just so classic.

Hi Benjamin,

The X350 is a luxurious good looking car, I think that`s a good choice.

When your family has grown a little, and they grow up fast, may be then look at something else if you still feel you would like a change.

If looking at cars I would advise getting RAC / AA inspection even at a dealer its really worth the money.

Unless you are a bit more mechanically minded than I am , still learning.

I would always have inspection as had trouble in past.

Kind Regards,

Julie.

Thanks Julie. I think I’m set on the XJ8 4.2 or maybe a XJR or the Super8 now, but so long as it has full service history, is a car with mileage around 115,000 miles one to steer away from?
