Automatic vent opens but does not close

My wife put her foot on the passenger side air vent and closed it - it won’t automatically close but will still open if I manually close it - any ideas on how to get automatically close

    I had a similar issue. All I did was turn the automatic settings on and off a few times and it seemed to work.

    This problem is common on the XF - The rotation mechanism has a failsafe plastic gear.  I you force it, it snaps.  Its a 7 to £12 item on Ebay and all you need is 1 torx screwdrriver and a set of plastic trim removal tools.  How to change is on you tube - I changed mine in 30 mins.
