So I have only had my 2013 XF since June, and up until now I thought it was the reception on the DAB radio that was at fault UNTIL I realised that actually it wasn't just the reception which is pretty dire, but also when I plug in my phone to charge it using the 12v front socket the DAB cuts off as though muted, and if I unplug the cable from the phone, it immediately springs back into life. The cable is still plugged into the 12v socket via an adaptor, but not into the phone

Now, i'm not sure just what is happening here, or what is causing it, and any ideas from fellow members would be highly appreciated. I have the phone in a cradle stuck to the windscreen at about the 2 o'clock position of the steering wheel, just above the side air vent.

I was wondering IF I need a shielded USB-C cable, but I've been unable to find one using the usual search

Sounds like you may have some iffy wiring potentially, has anything not standard been wired in on the car?

So nothing that I know of, apart from a dashcam into the secondary 12v socket, but it's a distinct loss of signal when plugging in the cable, and then returns as soon as unplugged, so it's definitely an issue with charging the phone!
