Featured Replies

Hi

so i am new to the jaguar world and have had my XF-S a few weeks now and had the fuel filter and sensor changed as had the water in fuel warning light,   it is a 10yr old car

now the drivers door window is playing up.  goes down fully but is playing up and sticks going back up. is this a common thing,   the rest of them work perfectly

also its done aroind 65,000 miles do i need to chnage the belt/chain/pump at some stage ?

and recommended gear box service ?

cheers

Hi. Hope the XF is going well. Ref your questions about windows and belts. I've just been through both on mine (2010 3.0d)

The window is probably a failing window regulator mechanism which is an easy fix/change once you've watched some YouTube tutorials. I got a complete regulator set with motor for under £100 and completed the change in an hour. I had a broken steel wire. The hardest part for me was reinstalling the glass. Just needed to get angles right. I bought mine from a decent supplier on a well-known auction site.

I've also replaced the cam belts, though this time I had the work done at my Jaguar specialist (Hollygrove near Ringwood) they charged about £700 for the full set and some other bits etc.

Mine is running lovely, as I also had a gearbox service too.

Good luck, RgdS Paj.

Hi.

I don't know if this helps, but I had this window problem a couple of years ago in a different car, but it was simply a build-up of gung in the window channels. A quick clean out with a screwdriver wrapped with a piece of cloth and the a quick blast with WD40 and all was well. The gearbox people I use recommend an oil change at 60,000 miles.

Regards
