Hi

Could anyone throw any light on my 1999 XKR issue ?

I keep getting and ABS warning coming up in dash . I've checked all the sensors , one been changed , I've found one not working and cleaned , so think they are now all operating

After cleaning / replacing ,  the warning disappeared and car ran perfectly , for about 1/2 mile each time, then same warning light.

At the same time as the warning light , the Speedo stops working and it doesn't change gear properly , so I'm thinking something electrical ??

i don't have a tester to check faults but might get one of anyone can recommend one that's easy for a DIY enthusiast to use ?

thanks

Paul

Not sure on the XKR but fairly certain on the S Type that one ABS sensor also doubles as the speed sensor. If that's the case, there is an intermittent fault somewhere on that sensor or that circuit. I might be wrong on this so double check your wiring diagram but it seems too much of a coincidence that both the speedo and ABS throw a fault at the same time. Also the PCM usually gets a speed signal from somewhere to tell it about the road speed/engine load etc to determine what gear it should be in so again, this points to one common component - whether that's an ABS sensor or what, i can't say but i know someone had a very similar fault with an S Type not long back and that was (i believe) an ABS sensor OSR if memory serves but might be wrong, been asleep since then!

Thanks Big John , it is a great help . I'd actually seen this previously and I've gone through this process and refitted it today .......same issue ....really disappointed cos it was a pain to get out !

So I'm still none the wiser.

Thanks John , that does make sense , my sensors seem to be working based on the tests I've done but think I'm going to have to invest in a tester to see what alarms I'm getting cos I've no idea where to go next .

Thanks guys
