Has anyone else experienced this?

Driving around in the city with all the traffic stops/starts and slow momentums my 2016 XF R sport eventually gets up to temperature and stays there, but within 10 minutes of hitting a dual carriage way or motorway where I can finally get my foot down the temperature dial drops back down to the first marker on the dial and just hovers there, is this normal, How is one supposed to clear out the dreaded DPF if the temperature is n't correct?🤷🏾

Not sure what is going on there but it should remain in the middle of the dial regardless of your driving
