I put my Jag xe sport into Hatfields in Liverpool for an Oil and filter change. It cost me just shy of £200 . It sounded clunky when I left. But wasn't overly concerned because I had just left the "experts" or so I thought.

They failed to put Oil in my engine, when the warning light came on for me to STOP and then I checked, I rang them and they said because I drove away without checking it first, the onus was on me.

My beautiful car was wrecked. I'm heartbroken.

So all you guys out there, don't let my car die in vain. Trust no-one and check your Oil before leaving the garage.

Hence to say I would not recommend Hatfield in Liverpool to anyone as far as I'm concerned, they are a bunch of cowboys.

Hi Les, I think I would consult a suitable petrolhead solicitor as the comment by the garage is just plain dumb - no-one dips their Oil or checks the level of the work completed by their dealer ahead of driving away. Hatfield's are trying it on.

In the past, I have had an Oil leak on my drive after the dealer returned my car without having replaced the washer / seal on the sump plug - their fault and fully rectified, including a full underbody clean-up where the Oil had been spraying the underside of the car on the drive from the dealer to home.

The onus is on them to carry out the work you are paying them for with an appropriate level of skill and professionalism.

I would first ask to speak to the dealer principal / head of business, if you don't have any success, trading standards / consult a solicitor.

!Removed! hell, your fault? an insult if you ask me...yeh i would speak to dealer principal, if they won't even entertain the idea, legal action full on.
