Ref XFS  2018 model, mileage 54,000

MOT advisory "Shock absorbers has light misting of Oil Offside Rear (5.3.2.(b)

Garage has advised that I should replace both at cost of £1050 parts plus £380 labor plus vat.

I'd welcome any suggestions

Got the same issue on my older model - Jaguar X type 2006 , been told I need to replace all of the shocks due to it being an all wheel drive , didn’t pay a huge amount for the car but I don’t think I want to be forking out for them especially at that cost!

Hi Daniel, I think you are confused. The original post above refers to shockers for the XFS model, whilst you need to look at the shockers for the X-type model.

A quick check on the Jaguar Classic Parts website indicates that the shocks for the X-type are around £150 per corner, which doesn't sound too bad. The shocks are obviously model specific, but also vary by the VIN, so you need to make checks to ensure you get the correct parts for your car.

Check out at the link below - once you have the part numbers, you can search for suitable alternatives from other sources.

Hi Martin

That sounds very expensive!. Presumably a Jag main dealer.

I would be looking for other quotes without a doubt. As a guide to parts prices try searching online at places like this : https://www.bestpartstore.co.uk/jaguar/xf-x260/115130/10221-shock-absorber

Good luck

John
