Hi everyone.

I have just bought a 1996 XJ6 and the steering wheel doesnt move up/down or in/out. When I use the switch I can hear the motor going but nothing happens. Does anyone have any ideas and can you tell me if it is meant to go up/down and in/out?

Cheers

Mark

Hi, if you have the switch/button/toggle on the left side of the steering column, this is the electric adjust model. When in neutral or park if you can hear the motor working, but no movement, then it's a good bet that it has broken inside the column. I have been told it is better to source from a breakers for this, than go to a main dealer. Mine won't work either, but I cannot hear anything on mine, so I presume my findings may differ to yours. I hope this helps. Dave 8.
