Checking the Oil on XF 2.2

Featured Replies

According to the Manual you will have to wait in excess of 10 mins before the electronic sensor will alllow you to read the oil level but after a visit to the dealer and asking a tech how they do it without the delay the level can be viewed imediately by following the steps below ...

Pop the hood

Select oil level by pressing the button on the end of the stalk several times

Press "Cancel" twice on the steering wheel cruise control

The display will now inform you of the current oil level

Sorry, this posting should go onto the "tips page" but it wont provide me with a dialogue box for some reason

ive tried accessing the oil level on the stalk, but it doesnt display oil, just trip computer etc, am i doing something wrong?

forgot to say its a 2010 xf 3ltr petrol

I have recently purchased a 3 L diesel sportbrake, 7 months old with 8k on the clock and was shocked to discover the oil at a dangerously low level after only having driven it myself approximately 200mls so either the dealer did not chech the oil levels before I took delivery or it is useing a phenominal amount of oil. The dealer informed me that diesel engines take a little while to run in and that the oil consumption should reduce over time but having had no such alarming experience with my previous 202L diesel Mazda I am a little sceptical. Can anyone out there reassure me that this is to be expected with an XF and that it will improve?
