I know that my 2.7 Diesel (2005) has a seperate heater on to speed up coolant but does anybody know what is involved with it, the problem is the unit produces lots of smoke and smells of unburnt diesel (and seems to cost a lot to run) I assume it will need replacing if so has anybody changed one of thede pumps and what was the cost.

Thanks

No expierence of your particular problem, but I do know that VW & Ford have similar systems, and that the problem u describe is caused by a failed sensor.

Thanks for the reply I had one fitted to a Ford Galaxy (great car wrong badge on the front) that did the same on that one I pulled the fuse it was a eberspacher heater I don't want to pull the fuse on the jag it will probably be a summer repair so i willhave to have a look then, I have got a manual off eBay but it doesn't mention this heater.
