I came to remove my spare wheel from it's stowage space in the boot recently to check the tyre pressure and found that I could not undo the clamping pin it was siezed solid. I eventually undid it by using a 36mm ring/open end combination spanner, putting the open end over the tee cross bar on the clamp screw and a piece of round steel through the ring end of the spanner as a tommy bar. Having sucessfully removed it I wire brushed the threads and gave them a thin coating of anti sieze compound before refitting it. Needless to say if I had been out on the road and needed to change a wheel I would have been in deep doo-doo. I would advise anyone who has not had occasion to remove the clamp pin on their spare wheel recently to do so just in case, particularly if your boot well leaks as some S types do, I now check mine regularly, don't get caught out. Best wishes to all Geoff.
