Auto Headlight Sensor

Does anyone know where the headlight sensor is located in the car? I believe its by the immobiliser light on the dash, but I've also been told its in the back of the rear view mirror.

Also can you adjust it?

As far as I'm aware there are two, both in the areas you mention? although someone maybe better qualified to say? If you cover the front and rear sensors on the mirror if you have lights set to auto they do switch on. I don't think they are adjustable other than the delay on the arm/ stalk
