I have a 3.0 V6 and I had the rubber cam belt changed last year. No chain anywhere.

Hi, i had a quote from a Jaguar garage to do my 3.0d V6 S and they were going to charge £1300! Local garage still quoted me £950 for it so i must be getting a raw deal lol

Hi steesh,I am not surprised with the quotes you got,it is a big job it took me 2 days but I am no mechanic,I do remember the belt kit cost over gbp300 so if you need to save money go for it,I did find lots of useful hints of how to do it on youtube but there are lots of bolts that are quite hard to get to especially on the egr valves, but if you do decide to give it a go I replaced my water pump at the same time. Good luck

Hi guys. Bought my 2010 3.0V6 Diesel XF last January. The dealer did the cambelt and water pump for me at 105K (they showed me evidence of old ones which looked same as the ones in the websites). The old cambelt seemed fine, but you never know. However, I'm getting a chain noise when starting the car from cold, which lasts for 2 seconds. My mechanic says it's the chain, but he's not a Jaguar specialist.

Any  ideas what this sound is? Does anyone else hear the same sound when starting the car?

Thanks and regards
