hi everyone im mike, im just joined the club to ask for some help for my girlfriends dads jaguar xk8.

its having starting problems and I have looked briefly on the internet about possible problems or solutions. its a R reg 4.0 litre. he tried to start it last night after fully charging the battery and it also have some fuel in too...

is there anyone that could shed a bit of light please and if possible give me a few basic things to try and get it started?????

iv read about the nikasil liners and that the fuel system may be flooded and also the spark plugs may need drying and cleaning..?

any help for just a few basic tips that I could try to get the bugger started?!

thanks, mike

Hi Mike and welcome to the club !

Firstly, check the engine Oil and if it stinks of petrol and is really thin then cylinder washdown has occurred and you will need to change the Oil to build up the cylinder compression when it turns over.

This usually happens if the car isn't used much and the engine is only really turned over occasionally and used for short distances.

Let us know how you get on

Regards   Trevor
