65 Jaguar dry stored for years, hoping to re-comission, advice welcomed...

Hi All,

I am a brand new member and wanted to say hi, seek out some advice.

My mum owned a 1965 s type years ago, and drove it very happily. It then suffered a breakdown etc, got put in a friends garage and stayed there for the past 10 years..

It is now something I am interested in putting back on the road.

It is grey, with red leather, and not in bad shape at all.

I would love any contact details of any highly recommended mechanics/enthusiasts who may be able to steer me in the right direction.

I will take pictures as soon as I can.

The car is in oxfordshire, but can be moved..

Many thanks in advance for any replies.

Do not expect this to be cheap or quick :(

First thing to consider is the original breakdown? that will obviously still need dealing with.

Anything rubber will need carefull checking and possible replacement, consider flexible brake hoses, seals in brake calipers/master cylinders,

The carbs will need stripping and cleaning, new giaphragms, and O rings and gaskets.

The fuel pump will need attention.

The list goes on, the engine (subject to the original problem) may not need stripping, just fresh oil/filter, new hoses, coolant ....possibly radiator

Its a large undertaking!
