ive never had this experience on my jag ? but i would first get the GEM (generic electronic module) checked with an OBD reader which connects just under drivers side, but get this done by either a jag dealer or independent garage that can read the GEM. which should then flag up what the problem may be? for me though i would start and check to see if ive got any bad earth contacts in the engine bay. good luck with this.....i hope its an easy fix ? ? !
Thanks David, I have taken off the negative battery terminal where it bolts to the front upper wing and cleaned it, its bolt and receiving thread. I have checked it with a multimeter and it reads 0.003 ohms from the battery so it fine. The battery is only 6 months old and a decent Bosch heavy duty type.
I get a sneaking suspission that the problem may lie deeper....

Hello,
My father has the following problem with his x-type 2.0td.
While driving and without warning all of the instruments go to zero the tachometer disappears and a bunch of engine lights come on (see photo). The car then enters some kind of rev reduction mode until the ignition is turned off and the car is restarted. Things then return to normal.
Its now happening to him half a dozen time on journeys under 5 miles. His local garage has cleared the EGR but are none the wiser.
I don't have (as yet) any meaningful fault codes.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Cheers.

Hello Peter,
Thank you for the welcome.
It's had a new battery in the last six months. and its good.
I might drop it into a jag dealer and get them to read the codes. I'm sure it will turn something up.
