Hi , does anyone know how hard it will be to upgrade my sound system to a premium sound one ? I know i will need a different parcel shelf for the two sub speakers and door handles with the tweeters in also a amplifier and upgraded door speakers . I was wondering if any members have had it done .

    Cheers ,

    Andy .

    Hi Andy

I cant answer your question, sorry.  I can though encourage you to push on with it.  I've just bought an X-Type with the Jag premium system, with Alpine speakers.  I thought the previous system I had in my Nissan was good, but the Jag Premium system is simply OUTSTANDING!  Especially if, like me, you enjoy a good base sound.  You wont be disappointed with it.

    Hi

I fitted my own and it took less than an hour to do, its not that difficult

I can also recommend the the parrot mki9200, it will give you full handfree and you can insert a sd card and play all the mp3 you want, think there about £200 fitted

or I can recommend one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361703588070?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

there only a tenner, offer full hands free, it connects to phone via bluetooth, plays all the music on your phone, through your car speakers, via a fm station, as its got a fm transmitter built in, its even got a micro sd slot on it, where you can play mp3's directly from, so need to connect a phone if you dont want, cant go wrong for £10, I've got one in my work car, works really well

    cheers

    Joe

WOW! Brilliant thanks.  Had no idea such a device was even viable!

    Hi

    That's a No I'm affraid

But you can get a Audio connectivity Module, then you can play mp3's via a usb flash drive or even plug a Ipod into it, the MP3 usb can be controlled through the dash, steering control and even by voice control

you can get them new but there not cheap, but you do drop on them every now and then on ebay

I have one in mine and use it all the time , well recomended

    cheers

    Joe

    many thanks

I Googled that and found some fitting instructions. I certainly couldn't do it, and i guess its BIG bucks to have it fitted.  Much as I love the car, it seems I've taken a generational step backwards when it comes to sounds:-(

The "Plastic" wood used by Jaguar is real wood veneer, usually Maple but sometimes Burr Walnut on Daimler versions. But De gustibus nil disputandem!

Thanks Pere and put my ignorance down to being a Nissan owner, where all wood is plastic;-)))

  5. Just bought a 2004 x-Type with 76k on the clock. It's a 3ltr V6 petrol (I don't do many miles so not fussed about mpg)

Apart from a tiny Oil leak that I haven't identified yet, its immaculate inside and out! None of that dated plastic wood, but all black inside.

Its an X-Demo car that sat in a Jaguar showroom for some time, and had many extras fitted to 'show it off'.

So far, the only things ive discovered that either I don't like, or isn't working, are the overhead map lights wont come on, one of the key fobs doesn't unlock the car, but will start it, and head lights are !Removed!;-)

I'm 'hoping' the key fob just needs a new battery.

Any hints or tips for this car are most welcome.
