Hi. You can check each sensor by engaging reverse (engine not running but ignition on) and listening to the sensors. If you put your ear close to the sensor you should hear a crackling noise like static. If they are all working then I would look at the beeper.

Hi All,
managed to sort out my lack of beeping by sourcing a replacement from eBay. For £9.99!
For those that ever need to do this, it's located under the parcel shelf.
Firstly you need to fold the seats down.
Next remove the 3 large headed trim clips -circled in the photos
Next remove the covers to the car seat restraint clips
Next remove the restraint clips by unbolting
Next you can release the side bolsters to allow more shelf movement. There is a clip with a lever which releases the bolster
Now the fun bit. Pull the parcel shelf away forward (into the car cabin) to get it clear of the seat latches
Finally lift the parcel shelf up - it will not lift easily and I used a piece of wood to wedge it up. You cannot see the speaker/sounder but it is located just to the right of centre and is retained by to plastic clips pushed into the metal shelf. To remove it I used a long flat bladed screwdriver and levered the sounder up. Once loose you can get the sounder clear of the shelf and then unclip the wiring.
installation is the reverse of removal
Also for info this is how you access the centre belt pretensioner wiring should you have a B2292 code 36 airbag fault. The rear side pretensioners are located behind the side bolsters.
Hope this is of some help to people.

Sweet looking car. Did you apply wax or sealant?
Hi. This was just a quick wash down. Will be hitting it with some megs 105/205 and hexlogic pads. Usually wax with AG HD wax. This is my first black car and considering the poorboys black hole too.

Think this is the only wood finish I'd be happy with too

Hi Joe, thats the one. Aluminium. I didn't know what it was called, thanks. Not a real carbon fan for the STR. Think I'll go with the silver coloured carbon weave finish vinyl. Watch this space.

Thanks guys. The passenger airbag one is the only one that I'm cautious about. Don't fancy eating an airbag for my troubles.
Vinyl wrap materials come to about £10 so I think I'll give it a go. Cheers

Hi All,
Im not a big fan of wood trim but it wasn't a deal breaker as the rest of the car ticked the boxes.
Firstly are there any owners out there with the aluminium / carbon metal trim that would be interested in a swap?
Failing that it looks like I'll be getting the scalpel out and vinyl wrapping. Anyone have any pointers as to how the various trims detach from the car. Thanks in advance. Rich

Hi Richard.
Not heard a lot about auto Rae chem products, always interested in people's opinions of products though. I've been using Bilt Hamber auto foam, very good at shifting winter crud..
Mark
Mark, I took a punt on it as it was reasonably priced on eBay. Run it at 5:1 for best results.

Hi Mike,
Jaguar will give you the factory details of your car if you give them the VIN number.
I got mine and found that it was came off the line on the 13th March 2007. It does not tell you whether it was the first but the date could give you an indication.
Regards,
Peter.
Hi Peter,
how do you go about getting production details from Jaguar, is there a specific dept etc to contact.
Cheers Richard

Hi Richard.
Car is looking much better now it's been cleaned. Which snow foam do you use and how is it performing?
Cheers
Mark
Hi Mark,
this was a code product I was trying from a friend, it worked quite well, I usually use a cherry snow foam by auto Rae-chem which works fine. Cheers, Rich

Hi Joe,
As mentioned earlier i have OCD - obsessive compulsive detailer, had to take plates off to clean the whole rear panel as it's the first wash plus I've got a private reg to go on it so was using it as a template for the new one., cheers

Hi All,
picked up my STR on Monday night. Spent all week unable to clean it and getting frustrated at the grubbiness. Finally spent the afternoon giving it a good wash down and vac out. She hasn't come up bad at all. I'm a bit of a self confessed detailer so this is the first of many sessions to bring her up to a good std. I also have a list of minor mods to personalise her a bit. Regards

Thanks Joe, much appreciated.

ACMs come up on ebay quite frequently Richard. The important thing is making sure that the full kit is being offered. Takes about 30 minutes to fit. If you go this route and need any help just let me know :)
Thanks for the info and offer. When you say full kit, what do I need to look for? Also what's a fair price would you say.

Thanks very everyone's input. I take it the ACM's are like rocking horse manure ! I'd like to keep it as stock as possible. Ive tried FM transmitters years ago and found the quality a bit poor however newer ones may have improved. Oh well CDC for now and I'll keep my eyes peeled for an ACM. Thanks again all.

Hi All,
for those who haven't browsed the newbie section, I've just picked up my 03 STR. I have browsed the 50+ pages of the s type sub forum but couldn't find a conclusive answer to the question. I want to play my music from an iPod. Ideally an interface that uses the docking socket rather than the headphone out but whatever is possible would be helpful. Happy to lose the CDC to free you up the 'route in'. Any advice guys would be useful. Currently stacked the CDC up but I download music now so haven't got my favourites to hand. #21stcenturyproblems
Thanks in advance, Rich

Hi all,
A quick hello, just picked up an 03 STR, black (PEF) on black/red (RFB) apparently so the PDI sheet says. Photos to follow once she's had a clean (and it's daylight). First Jag ever. Not my first V8 though, just stepped out of a Monaro CV8. Was looking for a saloon and the VXR8 just wasn't subtle enough. STR ticks the box nicely. Into my cars and bikes too.
There will be questions heading towards the S-type sub page I'm sure as I learn my way around the finer points of it.
All the best
Rich
