  1. Hi everyone,

I'm part way through removing my driver-side EGR valve. I've kind of got stuck. I had read online that with a flex head 8mm spanner and a universal joint socket to remove the torx bolts this job wasn't too tricky. However, I just can't seem to get to the two bolts underneath the EGR valve. I can reach them with my fingers and get the spanner on them, but the valve itself is blocking me from turning the spanner.

Has anyone done this job themselves? Can I remove any of the stuff around EGR valve to make it easier to access? I'm thinking the fuse box and the wiring that runs next to the valve. I have loosened it all but it's still just getting in the way.

I have to pick my son up from nursery at 4pm, help!

here are some photos of where I currently am.

Any advice or moral support would be really appreciated! Thanks, Dave

PS having very recently replaced my passenger-side EGR valve at an indie garage for about 300 quid I'm trying to not have to do it with this one.

  2. Done!

I guess I just need to see if it clears my EGR fault codes now! Hopefully it'll keep me out of restricted mode until I can get a proper clean out done.

Just out of curiosity what was the bit I was pointing at? It seemed to be leaking a fair amount of something (diesel Oil or just general engine muck) I tightened it up to hopefully stop future leaks.

I was going to have a stab at taking the EGR valves out to clean them, but having seen where they are I decided that may have to wait until I know the car a bit better.

    Thank you,

    Dave

  3. I think I jinxed myself! My car went into Restricted Performance mode on my way into work this morning. I was driving from South Wales to Stratford on Avon when it happened. I managed to find an independent Jaguar specialist very near to Stratford only to find out he's off for a long weekend in South Wales! So can't look at my car until next week.

I'm  having to drive 90 odd miles home in this restricted performance mode tomorrow. I'm a bit nervous about it if I'm honest. I've read a lot on the forum today and tried a few things to clear out the DPF but I don't think it's that as it hasn't cleared after a 60 mile motorway drive.

Any advice would be appreciated, but I think I'm off to the garage Friday morning!

    Thanks,

    Dave

PS How's this for a pic?
