    Hi Paul,

I have my first Jaguar when I was 77 and my 11 year old Rover 825 Rover Sterling was getting rather tatty and a respray would have cost more than the car was worth.

Someone said that a Jaguar was an old man's car  ---  not so.  Driving a Jaguar keeps you young!

    Regards,

    Peter.

    Hello Peter,

My daughter (aged 42) has informed me that it's an old man's car. She wants a lift to the airport next month so we will give her the train fare.  If it's an old man's car, bring it on. The wife and I love it.

Thanks Peter, Bosch battery will, hopefully, be fitted tomorrow at local Jag Centre in Norfolk. Many thanks for info, will remember to take  radio code with me.

Hello Peter, new Bosch battery all fitted and everything OK. Garage told me it was the original battery, no wonder I was having a few teething problems.

    Welcome Paul and Trish

Please post some pics of your machine. I'm a newbie myself but there's plenty of knowledge within the group.

Hello Gary, this is the third attempt at posting pics. Hope they come through this time!

    Hi Paul and Trish,

Modern batteries are all usually pretty good.  Some people prefer Bosch and some Varta etc.  There is a small but very knowledgeable Auto Accessory shop close to where I live, and he fitted a Platinum Battery which are reputedly rather good.

Halfords have a fair selection and they will fit it for you.  BUT make sure you have your radio code with you as disconnecting the battery mean you have to reset your settings, which is not too difficult.

There is a post with the full details of hoe to do it but if you can't find it get back to me and I will send you the full details.

    Regards,

    Peter.

  5. Thanks Peter, my children (who are in their late forties) have made the same comment. Now we need a bit of help, following your advice regarding the importance of a reliable battery. We don't know how old the battery is so would rather be safe than sorry as we have a trip to Yorkshire planned in a few weeks. Please can you advise what sort of premium battery, make and price would be best (we're not looking for cheap). Kind regards Paul

Thanks Peter, good to know help is at hand when needed.  Have to agree about premium fuel, have always used it in all cars in the past. First time Jag owner at the age of 60+ , learning week by week.

Kind regards Paul and wife (Trish)
