  1. Fitted to a leaper to mine , has now been through UK MOT, not a mention, apart from that looks good!! ; its the spring loaded type, Stopped last summer by the gendarmes out side Sables D'Olonne spot check (I was daft enough to go out on a Sunday afternoon, if you live in France you know what I mean) who checked it moves when pushed (not fixed) sent on my way no problems.

Too true I know what you mean! Officious, surly lot at the best of times... Looks as though they know what to look for, though, which makes a pleasant change. Usually they just throw their weight around without having a clue whether there's any reason to or not!

  2. Very nice! White suits it - which I find is rarely the case for more ordinary cars.

Meanwhile, mine has been Adameshed! I like the retro look so I decided to reinforce it a bit...

Unfortunately, here in France it is illegal to modify the exhaust system in any meaningful way, so the only option available without risking trouble at my next MOT was the Jag-made exhaust pipe trim. Ideally, a twin exhaust would have been better...

  3. As on any car forum, there are more threads about "How do I fix?" than "I love!" - so it seemed like a good idea to start a gallery and "What I like best" thread!

    So here goes -

This is my recently acquired 2007 2.2D 155BHP manual that I am utterly in love with! It was quite difficult getting the hang of its very different driving style after 15 years of quasi-characterless VAG cars, but now I've got used to it, it's a delicious car to drive that my wife can barely pry me out of... Unlike the VAGs! As yet it is completely stock, although I've ordered the chrome door pillars from Adamesh that will give it a mote retro look that I like.

British Racing Green is a very rare colour here in France - they like blacks, greys and silver - so I'm especially lucky to have found it!

Round here - in the villages between Paris and Orleans in France - it gets a fair few appreciative looks and thumbs-ups from the natives...

  4. Given how p*** pathetic the Jag system is to begin with, is it really worth bothering anyway? I've given up on mine and continue to use the little £70.00 Garmin from my pre-Jag days! Or does the current DVD add useful things that would make all the difference..?

  5. Hello all - I'm Nigel, and I am still having to go to the window and look in the drive to make sure that I really do have a Jag out there! On Tuesday I went to a second-hand car dealers to look at an X-Type he had for sale, and instead of the humming and ha-ing and dithering I'd expected to be doing, I did a trade-in of my Octavia there and then and drove home in the Jag. Very different style of car that's taking me some getting used to after 15 years of VAGs, but I'm thrilled to bits. My grandfather had a MkX when I was tiny, and since then, 'car' has always been synonymous with 'Jaguar.'

And so here I am, a new Jag owner, with admittedly not the Jaggest of Jags, but it is one, and that's me happy.

    British Racing Green 2.2D X-Type, 2007.

And I live in France, about 40 miles south of Paris, so if I suddenly start quoting prices in Euros or speaking in Kilometres, don't worry - I haven't joined the Dark Side!
