  1. Hi

Jaguar updated the software (2.5hrs) and the screen no longer goes blank.  however, incontrol app connectivity is still very hit and miss. Reversing camera often fails to come on. Frankly I’ve given up with Jaguar and resigned myself to living with it. Dealers are just hopeless. Darrell

  2. Another update

Marshalls Jaguar Cambridge advised me that the exhaust bracket change would take one hour so I said I’d wait rather than have them collect the car. FIVE HOURS later the work was complete. No explanation, no real apology for 5 hours sitting in their reception area.  Worst of all the problem has not gone away. There’s still a drone/ vibration at 1500 rpm. Guess they’ll have it back. This time they can collect it themselves. Not going to wait.

  3. UPDATE: Jaguar Service advise that a software up-date is due to be released imminently to fix the problem. The last release causes the screen to shut down completely so need to wait a while. Apparently I can do it myself from the car when it’s available.

  4. I have the same problem on a 2017 model. Often  it says ‘In Control Apps not available’ despite tha iPhone being unlocked. It happens on both an iPhone 7 & 8. Is usually takes several attempts to get connected so now I choose my phone as the source, which connects straight away and then switch to In Control a little later. Not ideal though but saves some frustration.

The cars going in on Thursday for a number of things inc intermittent shut down of the whole screen. I’ll report back if they cure it.

  5. Thanks, that’s a very helpful response.

I find it hard to believe that all new XF’s suffer from this problem. It’s very irritating and I’m sure would’ve been picked up in professional reviews if it was normal. I can feel a fight with Jaguar is in the offing. I guess I could always test drive another one under the pretence that I want to part exchange if they give me the run around.

  6. Yes I do. Had a 2013 and have a 2017. Both have dreadful beam spread and brightness compared to previous Mercedes and not a patch on a previous Skoda Superb. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they’re set up for both RHD and LHD. Came as a big surprise that you don’t need to fit adaptors when driving abroad.

  7. Another problem that I have with my 2017 XFS is the intermittent failure of the touch screen. Often it just either goes blank or fails to come on for extended periods. Restarting the car doesn’t resolve it. The car is still under warranty, but my experience with Jaguar dealers in the past is that if they don’t experience the problem whilst they have the car, they just say ‘no fault found’. It would be good to know if this is a common problem before taking the vehicle in.

    Thanks,

    Darrell

  8. Recently changed my 2013 XFS sportbrake portfolio for a 2017 XFS saloon. Bothare 3.0 litre engines. In the saloon I experience vibration through the transmission tunnel at around 1500 revs. annoying and intrusive. Didn’t have it in the Sportbrake. Anyone else have the same issue? Also the saloon tends to hold high gears for too long before changing down. Are all the new models like this? Advice please. Many thanks.
