Hi ladies and gents
Just joined as I will soon be proud owner of a 1979 jaguar xj 5.3 v12 old t reg brown colour
I work for jaguar building the xf and xe but went for the classic
I have done a deal on this car which has been off road since 1993 been in a garage.
Sadly the elderly owner my neighbour who had it since 80s passed away two years ago and the kids decided to sell it. I bought it on a hunch without starting it so took a gamble
All I know is that the outer body seems rust free. Not sure whats been done to it or even if it runs or on unleaded
So any pointers appreciated I am starting from scratch here .I will have the car the keys and v5
Looking to get it running tidy up Mot tax it . Hopefully it should be rust free as it's been garaged most of the time . I've known the car 30 years or so
xj12 not starting any ideas

Hi
Just bought a 1979 Jag xj12 5.3 V12 4dr
Been off rd at least 10 yes
I put fuel in it, got a battery and jump leads on it , engine spinswhen I turn ignition but not firing up?
Animal ideas where to start the elimination process? . First V12 IV owned so it looks like a complete maze under the bonnet.
I do have some technical knowledge and can do bits and pieces. I'd like to try myself before giving it to garage
There is a fuel switch on dash which I press in? The car is fuel injection so no choke?
IV got a Haynes manual and it mentions a fuel cut out switch?
Thanks
