  1. Having big problems with my 3,2 XJ8... I stupidly let the battery go completely flat.. After replacing the battery I am getting a few fault messages, including ABS and stability control fault.. But the most serious is GEARBOX FAULT and the car goes into limp home mode, If I turn off the engine everything is back to normal for about 30 seconds, then back to limp home and gearbox fault message.. The Car was running perfectly before the battery change... Please Help Me, !!!!!

  2. Hi, Does anyone have any spare Handbooks for a 1998 XJ8 please.. I would ideally like the full set, but just the main instruction manual would help.. I am prepared to pay a reasonable fee for these, and I could collect them if your in the Lancashire/Manchester area,  or send you the postage cost... I want the genuine items, not downloaded files... Thanks.. Greg   07931 161618

  3. My Windows keep misting up really badly and take ages to clear, I have had the Air-Con checked and re-gassed, and there are no wet carpets or anything like that.. Someone said its the pollen filter but the garage says its not that either... Its especially bad in the rain or worst of all if I go through a car wash I can not see to drive out... Any sugestions are welcomed

  4. Finally got the bugger off, not an easy job but if anyone is in the same situation this is how I did it (I am not saying this is the correct method, but its the only way I could do it)... First of all you have to cut off the leather around the top and remove that, then remove the foam rubber cushioning. Next you have a metal knob which just pulls off, then you have a hard plastic collar which needs to be sawn off. Then you are done and ready to replace with your new one... Its a time consuming fiddly job, but it now looks miles better..

  5. Cheers Dave, I think that I am going to have to destroy it to get it off as its just falling apart with the amount of force needed to remove it, unfortunately I am having to buy a universal replacement for now untill I can find an original one at a sensible price. The Quote from Jaguar for a gear knob is £143.00 +vat which seems alittle excessive as the price of one for an auto is only £30.00

  6. Can anyone please tell me how to remove the old tatty gear nob from my 2000 S Type. Its manual not automatic, some people say to push it down because there is a spring clip but others say just unscrew it. I have tried both and only resulted in making it look even more tatty.. Thanks.. Greg

  7. Chris, my insurance company gives a good discount for being a member, and no other company has even come close to there quote of £290.00... Give them a ring and see what they can do for you, I dont think you will be dissapointed. Please Let me know if this is any good tou you . Cheers. Greg ...
