46 Views and no one can be bothered to express an opinion that might help me out ! Thanks guys. I thought these forums where for the collective good of the owners who use them? Guess I was wrong? I'm off now to find one where its members can be bothered to reply, help or atleast express an opinion.

Hello everyone,
New boy here with his first post.
I'm picking my 2004 x type up on Thursday of this week. At the moment there is not a mark on it. I'd like to keep it that way. The only thing is I do 30 motorway miles a day and my previous car (a picasso) has more stone chips in it than......, well, something with a lot of stone chips in.
Is the X type prone to stone chips, and is it worth investing in this film stuff you can get to protect the car?
Thanks in advance !

Hello everone !
I'm new to jaguar and this forum. So I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm 45 years old and live in merseyside. I pick my first Jaguar up on Thursday of this week. Its a 2004 X type 2.0d saloon. I really can't wait ! Its the first time I've owned such a prestegious car , apart from a short stint with a Saab, but enought said about that already.
I wont be a big poster on here, but will pop my head around the door from time to time to see how things are.
Introduction over I just need to find the part on this site where I can post my first question ...........
Stone chip protection film. Is it needed ?

George,
Sorry for the delay in replying. I'm new to this forum and foolishly expected people to reply with atleast a
considered opinion when advice is aked from another forum member. This is very obviously not the case. So I've jumped ship on to a forum where most people have the good manners and grace to help fellow Jaguar / forum members out.
I've only returned today to see how many other people have asked questions / for advice, and no one has replied.
Regarding the protective film. Not a great deal of places do it. Quite a lot do body wraping, but not many the actual clear / transparant stuff I need. There is also some debate about which type to choose. Apparently some are noy UV stable which means they will react badly over time to sunlight.
The cheapeast one I could find that seemed half decent was around the £300 mark just for the bonnet. Expensive, but cheaper than a new respray.
Hope this helps.
