  1. Private Sale

Dave Garner, Frodsham Cheshire WA6 7PB

    Mobile 07860 379843.

I am selling my ultra rare Jaguar X Type 3.0 V6 AWD Arden model.  This is a genuine German Arden factory model with full Arden bodykit, stainless steel quad exhaust and special Arden alloys costing £1500.  I have seen only two other genuine Arden X Types for sale in the last twelve months - one made £8000 the other £9000.  This is an extremely rare car.

The car has full service history, stamped in the service book as follows:

    02/09/04 11412m Jaguar Main Agent
    26/04/05 20766m Jaguar Main Agent
    16/09/05 31535m Jaguar Main Agent
    31/01/06 37397m Jaguar Main Agent
    27/07/06 50000m Jaguar Main Agent
    30/03/07 61434m Jaguar Main Agent
    24/11/08 68115m Jaguar Main Agent
    13/11/09 70147m Jaguar Main Agent
    06/12/10 73136m Jaguar Specialist
    31/01/13 84569m Independent Garage
    17/03/14 91206m Independent Garage
    22/01/19 103296m Independent Garage

Mechanically the car is in excellent condition, as a result of the comprehensive service history.  There is a small Oil leak from the sump which is common to these V6 (2.5 and 3.0) engines and will simply require cleaning and replacement of the sump sealant (not a gasket).  The interior is in outstanding condition with no wear or damage whatsoever.  The wheels were fully professionally refurbished approximately twelve months ago.  The car drives superbly, as it should, with absolutely no known faults whatsoever.  It sounds amazing and is fast, responsive and the handling is superb.

As you will know if you know anything about X Type's the Achilles heel is the sills that often rot out completely - this car was no exception.  However, in April of this year I had the sills completely rebuilt.  This was carried out by a local renowned classic car restorers and involved complete removal of the inner and outer sills and part of the floor that was also corroded.  The new inner and outer sills were then hand crafted, wax injected and coated in Dynatrol to add corrosion protection.  This car is now 100% future-proofed.  This was a professional restoration, not just a patch-up of the sills, and cost £1700.  You will not find another Jaguar X Type in this condition.

X Type's are increasing in price with the 3.0 V6 AWD particularly popular.  The fact that this is a genuine factory Arden model makes it a sensible addition to any collection of modern classic cars.  If you want to check out the prices for Arden extras please see the Arden website - https://www.arden.de/en/ and https://www.arden.de/en/refinement/jaguar/x-type/ and https://shop.arden.de/en/collections/jaguar-x-type.

I can find no other genuine Arden X Type's for sale on the internet presently.

Only sensible offers will be entertained.  The car is sold as seen with no warranty implied or given.  Payment must be by bank transfer or cash and received on or before the date of collection of the vehicle.

I am a few years older than you at 72. However , like you I prefer the older looking cars. It is my personal belief that after the S-Type, Jaguar lost their way from a style point of view. Well from other points of view as well, may be.

    Best Wishes and Regards, John

I think you're correct, John; many of the newer models are great cars, but there's nothing 'Jaguaresque' about them.  Perhaps that's a natural consequence of modern designs and the pressures placed upon the designers.

    Hi Dave,

    Welcome back to the club🙂

Yes I prefer the older car, I think the shapes are so more pleasing.

I Know Frodsham well, go there with Mother most weekends.

    Two good looking cars.

    Kind Regards,

    Julie.

Thanks Julie, yes I agree. If I plucked up the financial courage I would have a Series II XJ 4.2....maybe one day!

  4. Hello everyone, my name is Dave I live in Frodsham near Chester.  I was a member of the club many years ago when I had an XJ40 and an X308 3.2.  I haven't owned a Jag for about seventeen years, but I am in the process of rectifying that!  I am purchasing a 1999/V X308 3.2 Sport and a 2003/53 Arden X-Type 3.0 V6 AWD.  I have added some pics below.  I am a member of other motoring clubs, groups and forums and I always have a number of either classic or modern classic cars - eight at present, but as I am down-sizing their number seems to be mysteriously increasing!  I have always had a passion for Jaguar, my favourite car since boyhood (....yes I can just about remember, I am fifty-five);  I remember at school our geography teacher Vernon Batty (great name!) had a brand new 1978 4.2 XJ in Squadron Blue, just about the sexiest thing I had ever seen, other than this girl in the sixth form whose name I don't even remember (....yes, but I remembered Vernon's car was Squadron Blue - five years education not wasted then!).  Other than that I don't have a passion for any particular type of car, I just like something old, honest and dependable, with a bit of a story behind it, not unlike me.  I have had Austin A35s, Rover P6, Jag XJ40 etc etc.  Hope I can make a meaningful contribution to the club and forum, thanks for having me!
