I'm no mechanic John , just when I've had mine to the garage these are the things they were checking, may be worth a trip to the garage, is there not a Jaguar specialist, around you, thing there's one in Huntington don't no if he's near you
-
Hi John
That's quite low mileage mine had 95k on a terraclean did help mine , when the terraclean agent came out to mine he done some checks first tot see if the service would help, but for £100 to get your engine clean cant do it any harm, I'm thinking of making it annual service,
Have you checked the aux belt tensioner that also clatters at tick over may need changing

Do what I did smarty tell you better half after you bought it, but just for the record it is not advisable unless have selective hearing as speaking from experiance 5 years after and 2 jags later I still get reminded of it, good look

Hi RGJAG
Had the same problem, took it to the main dealer, told me it was the injectors, to have the refurbished its about £100 each injector + the cost for someone to take them out, to buy new replacements they are £150 plus,
I just recently had gave my car a Terraclean service cost me £108, suppose to clean injectors as well as the engine , my X Type is now running much quieter and getting a few more miles to he gallon,
May work for you the mechanic will do a few check ans will tell you if it will help and how

Hi smarty
Welcome to the forum, you neighbours quiet right to boast about his Jaguar, I got my first 5 year ago onto my second now, was very suppressed how well the drove was expecting a slow but comfortable ride , well comfortable yes, slow was ver much mistaking, first car was 2.0 lt desiel plenty of power now driving the x type sport, can not fault it, but if I did find a fault someone here would soon point me in the right direction into fixing it,
I get called a old man for driving a Jaguar, only because they don't no how they drive or can be driven,
Happy hunting

Hi TomBoy
Just gave my X Type a Terraclean service, have a lot more power, a quieter engine, and getting better mpg, plush the engine has had a good clean, costs around £100 they come to you home or work takes about 1 hour
Saw the Terraclean service on the TV show wheeler dealers it endorsed by Ed China

Welcome to the club magic, is this your first Jaguar

Had service done Friday, straight away noticed a much quieter engine, been out driving over e weekend averaging 38 mpg urban driving, was averaging 34 mpg previous, and also have a better acceleration response , feels like my X Type has a lot more power .
Would recommend

Hi Cameron
I have a 2008 XType sport, 2.2 lt deisel just done 100000 miles, can't fault it, still running great averting 38, 39 mpg,
As long as it's got a good service history, and all the electrics work you should be ok, only niggle I have with mine, I have 18'' alloys with low profile tyres , if your looking at one similar check for cracks, or flat spots on inside of alloy wheel caused by potholes, some wheels look great on the outside but try to get behind them
Other than that I can't complain I'm on to my second Xtype good luck and enjoy the looking
