  1. Styper.......................sorry for delay in reply. I'm afraid I didn't think to ask where the break was, I was just grateful it wasn't serious! I'm sure the lads would be happy to tell you if you gave them a call though, they are very helpful.

  2. Well good news for once!! It was neither the RCCM or the valve...........just a broken wire between the two! 3 hours labour by the lads at Lincoln Jag Specialists and it's sorted. Cold air again.........thank the Lord!!! Can't praise the lads highly enough.....definitely recommend them. Many years experience and cheerful and polite with it! Thanks Daz and Dave!

  3. Hi Folks! Sorry if this has already been asked somewhere! My 2004  'S' diesel is only blowing hot air out and I have been advised to check the function of the 'cool air servo'? Trouble is I have no idea where to find it!! Can anyone help out here please as I am very quickly melting away every time I drive my old girl!

  4. Hi folks. have any of you fitted one of these performance/economy gizzmos? I have it on good authority from my mechanic that you can really see the difference in economy and performance. He paid about £100 for his and swears by it. Any experiences or advice from you experts out there?? I am really tempted to try one out.

    Cheers

  5. Can anyone tell me where the outside temperature sensor is fitted please and how to get to it?

I think mine has come adrift as the outside temp reads anything up to 38 degrees, even when it is way below freezing. I assume it has moved and found its way into a hotter location in the engine bay somewhere??

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks guys

  7. Hi Guys!

Anyone out there had a problem with their 'S' steaming up? Mine gets that bad I actually have to stop and use a cloth before I can see out! Makes no difference if the A/C is on or not and sometimes turning on "demist" function makes it 10 times worse. I've tried everything but to no avail. Any suggestions please??

    Cheers

  8. Following my recent rant (see 'Absolutely Gutted'), I am pleased to say I have better news!

The £3500 gearbox that Jaguar said I needed didn't happen. They totally re-programmed the onboard computer, downloaded new software, changed all the gearbox fluid, fitted a new sump and gasket and "hey presto" car runs better than it ever has!! Gear changes are brilliant, no sign of the dreaded 'lurch' and the whole job was under £700. Still a lot of money but infinitely better than the original solution! Faith has been restored and I am loving having the old girl back again!!

  9. Well.........my dream of owning my Jaguar has just been shattered. Only had my 'S' type for 4 months and done less than 1000 miles and the AA had to recover it to the local Jaguar dealer with the gearbox fault light on and limp home mode only available. The AA diagnostic test showed no fault but the dealer tells me the faults shown are faulty gear ratio(??)and make no sense to them. They have told me the only answer is a new box at £3500...........To say I am gutted is an under-statement. Having spent all my savings on the car, paying top price from a dealer I now find that 4 months later it is a useless pile of metal. I should have followed my head and not my heart and stuck with Volvo.

Sorry to moan but I am so,so disappointed and angry.

  10. Hi guys!

    Expert advice needed please!

I have just had a crack fixed in my gearbox sump and this has cured the fluid leak but I now notice that when cold, the car seems to 'hang on' to 2nd and 3rd gears and then suddenly lurches into gear with an alarming jolt and 'thud'. Is this something anyone can help me with please?? My warranty ran out last week so I am worried this might be very costly!

Also is there an alternative transmission fluid available other than Jaguar own label? I have just paid £32 per litre for it and my local guy says there must be some alternative option?? Any advice would be very welcome. Sorry to go on a bit but I am no mechanic!!

    Cheers guys.
