  1. I shall not have it hopefully, I'm going to get rid, I'm expecting another bill off around £1200 to £1300 for its last jaunt. The garage has even told me the turbo was full of black soot and had to be cleaned out with oven cleaner plus the actuator repaired but has a life time guarantee lol, the other side turbo would be best done and that would be yet another £600 - £700 bill. I just can not be doing with it, I just can't trust it.

  2. I will never buy another Diesel engine, if it was petrol I find that I can do most jobs myself, I had the x type 2.5 v6 sport, best car I ever had, serviced it myself and ran it for 3 years, this Jaguar S type has been in the garage more than on the road, bills off over a grand on the last couple of trips. I have parked it up and just don't know weather to drive it or just look at it.

  3. I have been to collect my car from the garage today and I have had to have the turbo actuator repaired and a bill for £700 for it on the a bank side of the engine which I believe is the one what usually goes, I have the 2.7 diesel motor twin turbo and the garage tells me that if one goes the other usually follows soon after. I'm really getting a bit cheesed of as I've not seen this car in the last 6 weeks as it's been one thing after another, I'm beginning to hate Diesel engines. Can any one help me out there, is it about to go.

  4. Hi peter, hadn't realised how close u are to me in Freckleton just outside Preston, u might have to let me know about your mechanic and if he is mobile or works from home as I might be needing him myself as no garage around hear will touch my car as they are not geared up for them, my mates car is still at the garage and this is week 4 and still not done, went in for glow plugs changing and 1 sheared, it's a joke. Don't know what the bill is going to be as the head had to come off, but he is putting a new timing belt on so he knows he has another 105,000 miles. My abs fault is still coming coming up from time to time but it's running fine and the garage plugged in and it's got no faults, so I'm going bald from scratching my head. I can't help u with the OBD problem as I ain't got a clue what it is, I only have a full stop after my name.have a nice day, I'm off under the wife's Astra now as it's playing up, can't win.

  5. I have been in touch with a Jaguar mechanic and he says there is no need to change glow plugs unless they fail but in his years at Jaguar he has never had to do one, it's more likely to be fuel injectors, but use good quality fuel and give them a good run now and again to clean the filter out you should have trouble free motoring. So that's me mate sorted and put my mind at rest as I was seriously thinking of going back to petrol engines as they don't scare me with the mechanics.

  6. I would just like to let u all know, I believe I was very lucky with my glow plugs as a friend has an identical car as mine and no garage will touch it as they will shear off and then u have to take off the heads, even his local Jaguar garage turned him away. I have found him a garage and one has sheared n the first 3. I will let u all know next week on the out come but he is thinking of getting rid an doing back to petrol, you might get less mpg but u don't get the hefty garage bills.

  7. Orange light came on with the message of restricted performance, my main problem is I have looked and can't find where I can plug in my diagnostic tester to find the fault, someone out there please help as I bet it's somewhere obvious and just overlooked it. The car sounds ok and appears to be running fine, it's bugging me to be fare.

  8. Let me know how you get on Paul.

The other thing you need to know about the 2.7 diesel is that the particulates filter needs a regeneration now and then -- if you have the handbook it does mention this, and if you do a few longer runs in a month there will be no problems. I do mostly shorter runs, so I give it an enjoyable hour at a nice 50 - 70 cruising speed.

    Regards,

    Peter.

  9. How did you get on with changing your glow plugs as I have found myself in exactly the same situation, I am confident in doing DIY on any petrol engine but never worked on a Diesel engine yet, but it does not worry me. I have got my plugs and I'm going for it at the weekend, just wondered how u did or should I be really putting it into the garage to be done.
