  1. Hi Mark,

If it's any consolation my X Type rear park sensors give a continuous tone occasionally (Twice since Sept) when it's cold and I haven't used the car for 4 or 5 days, the first time I cleaned the sensors and all was fine the second time this failed to work, however after a 15 20 mile drive it seemed to clear itself, I think if it's going to be a repetitive problem I'll just replace the sensors when the weather improves

  2. Hi Josh,

My Mrs left me years ago, funny enough I had two 4.2 Daimler Sovereigns in those days,HaHa.

I just get a natural buzz driving my jag, but seriously though the girlfriend don't play second fiddle to my jag....Honest

I just spent £10 on Valentines flowers for her. (And £28 on additives for the Jag)  :D

    Regards

    Steve

  3. Thanks Mick,

Just shows my knowledge of cars is limited to the waxing and driving bit, I've ordered the 2 stroke Oil from the link you sent me, and I believe 'Halfords' sell the miller additive.

Thanks again for the advice Mick, it's not wasted on me..

    Regards

    Steve

  4. Hi Mick,

My Jag doesn't have the DPF, it seems a bit of a 'Hybrid' car,it has standard headlamps but it has black piping on the cream leather seats and 'Jag voice control'.

I have been using 'Redex' diesel injector cleaner, I don't know if it makes any difference but figured it couldn't do any harm, it costs £4 in Tesco's, not that I'm looking for cheap it's just that I see it in my local shop at £6.50.

I looked up the miller one and it looks better, it does actually treat 500 litres of fuel.

I take it it's the 'Diesel Power Eco Max',

Thanks for the tip of using the 2 stroke Oil, anything that helps the engine sound quieter when starting off has got to be a plus.

Sorry to be a pain but any chance you could send me a link to the correct 2 stroke Oil?, I put it in a search and there are so many different ones, these are the the oils I found

I have indeed had a reply from CT assuring me distance is not a problem,

  5. When I had just finished giving my Jag a thorough wash and wax which took around five hours I kissed the walnut steering wheel  not realising my girlfriend was just outside the door with a cup of tea for me, her response was 'What on earth are you doing' well I have to say I felt like I just got caught cheating on her, do I love my Jag, HELL YES, more than the girlfriend gfgdwfpjgaklbt, only those can can speak Martian will understand

    Regards all

  6. Hi Mick,

I've been waiting for a post on ECU remapping, I have filled in a form for a quote with CT, however I'm in Essex so may be too far for them, there are other companies local to me but I don't know anyone with an X Type 2.2 who has used them, so thanks for your post, i'll post when I've heard from them, I may

    Regards

    Steve

  7. Hi Pete,

I like your post, the fact you've progressed from a 'Porsche' man to a 'Jag Man' is testament to the fact that as we mature our testosterone levels lower a little and our brains migrate back into our skulls, a Porsche, in my opinion, will never swing a head like a Jag will, who doesn't admire a Jaguar no matter the age or model?  :)

  8. Hi Mike,

Nice pics, looks great and sounds like a great upgrade, I'm going to be looking at a re-map for my 2008 2.2 X-Type when I've researched it a little further,Trevor advises there is going to be an article coming up with regard to ECU re-mapping, hopefully in the not too distant future.

I have to find somewhere to trust for the re-map with regard to my newly aquired Jag, an increase of 25% BHP must feel significantly better.

    Regards

  9. Hi Trevor,

I too had a problem with your E.Mail address 'Bouncing back' so sent to shop@autoclubhub.com, and received an automated response from 'Donna' advising out of office until further notice, but providing another  E.Mail address steve.barnes@autoclubsinternational.com

I guess you guys all know each other so I'm sure we're getting closer  :)

I would of course be more than happy to send some pics of my Jag proudly displaying the stickers.

    Regards

  10. Hi Mike,

Another late one tonight, hopefully i'll get a chance at the weekend to post a few pics, I'd like to see some of your X-Type pics also,

That's quite a serious increase in power you achieved, I drove my friends 2.2 Mondeo Tit' last week I think he said it was 175 BHP, I don't really do that many miles in the car to worry about economy, I rather like the idea of an extra 25% increase in power, is it a straight forward standardised process?

The car has a Jag history to 62,000 and I'v just purchased it with 75000 on the clock so I had a full service carried out on Tues fortunately nothing major required just the usual fluids and filters plus break fluid recommended along with wheel geometry and pollen filter, I had reported a noise at the rear of the car which I thought maybe a rear shock, it turned out to be the spare wheel not tightened down properly (Refreshingly honest on the part of the garage)

The drivers seat has a little wear as you would expect given the millage but all other seats like new, it started life as a Jag demo and has had one other owner, I intend to look into having the driver sat leather re-conditioned, it really isn't bad but would be nice if it looked as good as the rest.

    Regards

  11. Hi John,

That'll be the 'Jag' smile, it never goes away it can even make your cheeks ache, friends may even think you've had a Botox jab,

    I'm also a sufferer.  :D

I picked up an X-Type last weekend and feel like I just got my driving licence (Driving 40yrs)

    Enjoy

  12. Hello,

My name is Mike and I have owned my first Jaguar (X Type 2.2D Sport Premium estate or "sportbrake" if you prefer 2005), for three years.

I bought the car from Harwoods of Chichester with 34000 miles and one owner. it is "petrol green" with a cream leather and piano black interior.....lovely. Great all rounder and in my opinion a bit of a looker (unlike myself lol).

I decided that at 65000miles it was time spend a little cash on the car so recently had it mapped to approx 190bhp and 320 lb ft and partially blanked the EGR. What a difference! I would seriously recommend this £253.05 upgrade to anyone: )

Next week I am having a free flow stainless exhaust system fitted with a nice little twin tailpipe.

In the spring I am going to fit new alloys and tyres (in keeping with discrete Jaguar styling of course), because I intend to keep the car so I figure that it is worth "pampering" if you know what I mean ?

    Nice to meet you !

    Mike.

    Hi Mike,

Boys and their toys eh, I too am an X-Type owner albeit only since Sat last.

I am absolutely besotted with it, its a 2.2D Sov 2008 with some of the 2009 spec.

I am indeed a born again Jag man, many years ago I had a Daimler 4.2 Sov 1980 and a series  2 1978 4.2 Daimler Sov, both cars were my "Babies", mad I know but I understand how you can have a car three years and still have that magic feeling for it (It does make me smile tho') my girlfriend siad she wished she had the same affect haha

I missed out on two cars over the last few months so when this one came up I wasn't going to let it escape so a friend and I drove up to Wakefield (W/Yorkshire) from Essex  6am Sat and straight back again, what a fantastic feeling driving back in "My Jag".

It's certainly a cads car,I was surprised how much power it seemed to be able to produce when  needed.

Funny thing in the days when I had my Daimlers if someone siad they liked the Jag I used to swiftly point out the differances, fluted chrome and stuff.

Interesting you mentioning mapping, I have only recently heard the term, is that some thing they do at Jags, and how does it affect economy and does it affect your insurance?, i'm a bit green at the moment.

Anyhow better sign off now(Up for work 7am)

    Steve
