Hello there,
I own a 1998 XJ (X308) I am trying to find a part but don't know what its called. It is the handle that is above each rear door on the inside. The handle has 2 brushed chrome screw covers over each one and I have lost one. Does anyone know what this part would be called or even better does anyone know who sells them?

ok, in a nut shell the car starts and drives fine until its warm, about 5 miles of town traffic, then the orange light shows on the dash and the message is gearbox fault and then it enters limp mode.
Turn her off and back on and its gone. Sometimes it remains gone other times it doesn't.The issue has been happening for about a week now.
The car spent a lot of this year in the mechanics after an electrical issue so I am leaning towards it being an electrical fault as its not always there.
For all I know the fluid levels in the Automatic Gearbox may be low, I don't know I am not a mechanic.
I live in Horsham West Sussex if anyone knows of Jaguar specialists in Horsham Crawley Gatwick area.
Please help.
Regards
John

Hi there,
I have an x308 which will not start, it has been in a mechanics for 11 weeks and she can't get it to start but does say she doesn't have the tools to check Jaguar electrics and isn't that ofey with Jags. Does anyone know of a Mechanic in the Crawley, Gatwick, Horsham area who specialises in Jaguars.
Thank you in advance for any replies.

Hello and welcome to the Jaguar Owners Club, I had a similar issue with my XJ8 and within a few posts here it was sorted, mine required the following steps:
Place key in ignition
Hold headlight flasher back towards you
Turn ignition key to position 1 (accessories position, not ignition lights)
Flash headlights 4 times (not too fast)
System will enter programming mode confirmed by a bleep from the alarm sounder (or flash from the led)
Program each transmitter by pressing the lock or unlock button on the transmitter (try all buttons if no response from lock/unlock)
The security sounder must bleep (or led flash) when you press a transmitter button for successful programming.
Remove key from ignition and test keyfobs -
Hi there,
I would like to hear from XJ owners (x308) model, if they feel a Leaper on the bonnet is nicer than not having Leaper?

I have heard that if you fill the tank to full then add half a bottle of red X then drive the car hard for about 10 mins it somehow improves the performance....whether this is true or not I can't confirm, but it came from a man from Halfords

Hello there,
I am John, fairly new to the site and been a proud owner of a beautiful Jaguar XJ V8 1998 model for just over a month, as per every Jaguar i have encountered she purrs just like a kittykat. However I have noticed the front passenger air intake grille at the front was loose, on further inspection I had noticed the mount to which the grille is screwed onto has broken away. so I know it isn't the grille itself but the mount that holds the grille to the car, someone has told me that the mount is part of the grille surround, but for the love of god I can't find any on line because i either don't know the part or the proper name for it. Can anyone help me either with the name or part number or any advice on how to fix it.
hope to hear from you soon my jag loving friends.

Hi there,
I have a 1998 XJ V8 which has an electronic height adjuster on the drivers side but not on the passenger side, the only thing is I can't work out for the life of me how to adjust it manually? Anyone got any ideas???

Trevor, your instructions worked brilliantly, thank you so much, the key fob works perfectly now.
So glad to be part of this amazing family

Hey all,
Ive just bought my first ever Jag, its an older model and will only be used for fun as a second car, its in immaculate condition its a Jaguar 3.2 xj V8 1998 model in gold. One of the key fobs doesn't seem to work which is a surprise because it looks in good condition, does anyone know how to program these? I know there is something about flashing headlights but it doesn't seem to work on my model, I think my model is an x308.
Any advice would be appreciative.
Kind regards
John
