How much oil do i really need ?
Mercedes spec oil and filter is the way forward for the XKR box, half the price as Jag Stuff and same spec, made mine feel much better, just over 6 litres iirc... Cheers

Have you got a link or an item number chap?

Should you change the Transfer and Autobox fluids on an X Type, or are they really 'sealed for life'?
You will get a variety of opinions on this one, My XKR box is also sealed for life. Judging by the state of the oil and filter when I changed mine, it must have been near the end of its life as it was awful! Mercedes spec oil (Its a merc box y'see) and its transformed, much smoother......I think the opinions will vary based on how the car is driven. If its one of the fast Jags, definitely worth changing imho

Road Tax scammers
This is a legitimate site and they are not doing anything wrong (In theory) as they are brokering a purchase. However you could argue that they are duping folk into thinking its a DVLA site, but to get around the rules, the front page states that the site in not affiliated with the DVLA, but I guess many will miss that until the card details are keyed in.... They prey on the folk who either don't normally buy tax online or don't bother to read what the small print, they are twats :P Being a Google sponsored link does not help either......

Hi and welcome pal :D

Would Kent alloys fit an x type?
It depends on the PCD and offset of the original alloys, you would need to drop the tyre profile too as they would look huge on the X Type! Retro cool!

Charity car meet near alfreton Derbyshire

Weekend in the Garage with my XKR!
So, its been a car related weekend so far and I have done the following to our '00 XKR Full set of plugs and inspected coil packs, Cleaned MAF,Pagid front discs, pads and a full system bleed, Fitted replacement sports rear pipes (to replace the rear boxes)All went well and the plugs looked as if they have never been changed! - had an intermittent 'restricted performance' warning, the plugs seemed to have sorted this, fingers crossed. New front brakes are massively better as one dis had a slight warp that caused the steering wheel to wobble dramatically at speed, much better! I bought the new rear exhaust pipes as the old girl was so quiet, not a hint of V8 lovelyness and having had 'fruity' pipes on our previous sports cars, the wife was grumbling. Fitting took 30 mins on the floor ramps to fit and what a difference! - Lovely rumble on tick-over but amazingly only a tad louder inside, no resonance at all and sounds awesome if you get a shift on. Best of both worlds and well worth £120 from a chap on ebay (without tail finishers so I used mine) Pics to follow tomorrow.... Now I just need to work out how to get the '01 leather interior to work with my '00 loom!

Automatic gearbox service ??
I bought the Merc spec oil and filter and gasket for my 98k XKR autobox and got a local specialist to do the change (as I was a bit unsure on the 'cycling' thing). Labour was about £100 and parts were £70 odd iirc, so under £200 and a huge difference, much smoother and good for another 100k, get it done imho....
