  1. Hello fellow members,
    I discovered a company in Australia http://www.carshine.com.au
who were selling chrome grille bars that fitted over the existing set
of grille bars to a give a similar look to the original S-Types and Mk
    2. Sadly they have stopped selling them and will not renew the order
with their supplier due to die damage.

Is anyone aware of a supplier anywhere else or another way of achieving the same effect?

    Thanx

  2. Hi Grant,

    Welcome.

Don't forget to reset the digital readout (the one under the speedo) and then take it for a long journey at a steady speed. You will then see what the best mpg for your car is. Although mine is the 2.5 I recently achieved over 37 at a steady 60mph. There is a thread with a lot of entries on this forum.

  3. Hi John,

I had a 2.5 petrol x type and it got a similar mpg on local usage, but on a longer run I used to get around 35 mph driving steadily.  You could get as good as that.

    Peter.

    Hi Peter

Well I had to go north of Birmingham this week and spent some time on the M42. The speed was restricted to 60 mph and as a result I achieved over 37 mpg! I wonder if I could have kept going at this speed I might have reached the magic 40? I expect this is as good as it gets but I'm not complaining.

Anyone know what the record is for the 2.5 engine?

    John

  4. Hi

Does anyone know if it is possible to swap the front seats for ones with the extra controls including lumbar support? I'm hoping that no wiring changes would be required.

My 2.5 V6 seats are only 30,00 miles old but I would like the added comfort of lumbar support.

    :)

    Thanks

  5. Hello fellow owners

Recently had wheels balanced and asked fitter to put weights inside the wheel instead of round the rim for purely aesthetic reasons. However when
driving away I could hear the weights rubbing on the front callipers. Obviously I didn't go far and had the weights removed and fitted back on the rim.

I was amazed at how little clearance there was between the calliper and the wheel. This would only apply to the front as the rear callipers are much smaller
and also only on 16" wheels.

Has anyone else experienced this or does everyone with 16" wheels always have the weights on the outside?

I have cleaned up the callipers (see attached) and am considering either polishing them or painting them - any views on this? Since they are visible through the wheel they are effectively on the outside of the car and should be finished accordingly not just left uncoated and rough cast.

    Thanks

  6. Hi everyone

I never thought I would be able to say I own a Jaguar but heyho here I am.

I discovered my S-Type on Autotrader and luckily it was for sale at a local garage. It is a 2002 in zircon blue and grey leather with only 30,000
miles on the clock. It is in great condition as the previous owner had it serviced annually at a Jaguar dealer regardless of mileage. He also stored it in his
garage between servicing and didn't use it much hence the low mileage.

Here you see it outside a hotel in Chipping Campden. I live near Styratford-upon-Avon and am happy to hear from other owners.
