  1. Nigel,

Welcome, hope you find the forum to your liking , all the peeps seem to be friendly here .

I have DAB radio as standard im my XJ and really like it, it is definatlely the way to go, so I think you should be very succesful with your antenna buisiness, i wish you all the best with it .

As a retired music reaercher I obviousy like music a great deal, and the car also came fitted with a Bowers and Wilkins 1200 watt 20 speaker audio system, which i'm well pleased with. Not too fond of CD's though , so i use a memory stick for all my recorded music .

If you need any help with anything, just ask there is usually someone who knows how to get round the problem.

    ATB,

    Trevor ( The old one)

Hi Trevor, thanks for the welcome, apologies for the late reply, been a bit busy recently. I saw Bowers and Wilkins at the gadget show on trade day last week, wow they have some kit! To my untrained ears the speaker system in the car sounds pretty good to me. Haven't even had a thought to change. Thanks again for your good wishes.

    Best regards

    Nigel

  2. Good to have specialist knowledge on board! Welcome.

So how do I go about getting DAB in my X-Type?

    Hi Mick

Apologies for the late reply, haven't had much time to get on the site! Firstly you should decide if you want to keep the factory fit radio, so you will buy an add on that puts the dab signal into the radio on the FM band. You then can see the dab info via rds on your radio screen. or go for a replacement unit which can also include touch screen satnav like Kenwood, or a cd/tuner unit with am, FM and dab such as JVC. I went for the latter option. Your existing antenna is built into the glass, so you will need another antenna for dab. I have a glass mount antenna on the top of my rear screen, looks like a mobile phone antenna, but is amplified in the box on the inside of the screen. As a general rule of thumb, a roof mount antenna is always the best, followed by an external glass mount as high as possible, then as a last resort an internal glass mounted antenna. My website needs updating, but you can see different types of antenna for dab on www.antennensystem.com

    Hope this helps.

    All the best

    Nigel

  3. Evening all

Just joined this evening! I have owned my S type 2.7 SE 2005 model since August 2013. Have to say I am over the moon with it, having changed from Mercs. Think I got a good deal on this, 58k miles with near FSH, screen price £5995.

Have the "lurch" issue at times, planning a transmission fluid change soon to alleviate this, and my rear park sensors just packed up. No water in boot at all, totally bone dry.

I run my own business, specialising in automotive antennas, particularly for DAB and have just changed my original radio unit for a JVC CD/AM/FM/DAB unit. Happy to advise anyone who wants DAB in their Jag with various antenna options, please feel free to contact me. Trade price to members on the antenna of your choice.

Look forwards to making positive contributions to the club!

    Regards to all

    Nigel
