I thought that they may get more help in the XK forum, that is all. Some XK owners may miss it in here.
-
The original post was concerning an XK8, with a specific problem concerning paint bubbling, and requesting advice. The original post post also referred to a comparison between several models, and comments with regard to that topic also received some interest, with owners of one of the models in question offering advice.
I am aware that the topic was raised in the X Type forum, but I am not in the business of chiding a new member for posting a topic that could apply to any car in a forum titled "X Type Club".
I hope that clarifies your comment.
Peter,
Indeed the, the OP raised a question about an XK, and the following discussion was mainly about XKs. I thought this would be of more interest in the XK forum rather than the X-Type forum - they are very different models! It's not a question of "chiding" but of helping a member to get the best advice they can, and that is surely in the XK forum, otherwise what is the XK forum for?

I'm not sure what this thread has to do with X-Types.

Just to confirm the other posts, the pictures you posted are definitely of a pre-facelift car, as most clearly evidenced by the grill and chrome bumper inserts. Unfortunately if you paid a post-facelift price for it you could lose out significantly. You will have no comeback on the dealer unless you can show that they falsely advertised it as post-facelift, I think.

Well, that has not been my experience. Heavy-handed moderation like deleting posts without explanation does nothing to foster a lively forum or help people to solve their problems.
Anyway, the the OP doesn't seem to be that offended having taken my advice sent to him via PM, so I'll leave it there.
-
What I objected to was my posts being deleted without warning or explanation despite my PMs to a moderator for clarification. One of my posts that was deleted offered the only helpful advice on the whole thread up to that point. When it was deleted I sent the same message via PM to the OP and he took my advice. People may not have liked my original comment, fair enough, but deleting subsequent posts is over the top.
-
Nevertheless, my posts (except the one that apparently caused offence) were deleted and my PMs asking for clarification have been ignored.
"degree standard" - Are you serious? I just found the OP difficult to read.

I haven't gone, nor has your fellow moderator "dealt" with me, he is just selectively deleting my posts and ignoring my messages asking for clarification - or perhaps that's the way you do things around here...

Capital letters and punctuation would be helpful.

1) The ride will likely be harder due to the lower-profile tyres although the handling should be sharper.1) What are the implications of switching from 17" to 18" wheels?
2) What is the fitting kit these sites refer to?
3) All the "packages" offered are for 4 x wheels and tyres, what about the spare?
2) I imagine they are 3rd-party wheels that include spacers to adjust the offset. I would avoid these and stick to genuine X-Type wheels.
3) It's up to you if you choose a new spare, I wouldn't bother as it's for occasional use.

X-Types were also sold with 18" wheels as an option.

Silicone spray is better, WD40 will rot the rubber.

So it may have been on there for years? I would fit a new one as a matter of course anyway and it may solve your problem.

When was your fuel filter last changed, and is it a quality one (Bosch, Delphi)?
