  1. Hi Joe, I'm afraid I'm not as well up on these things as you seem to be. All I can tell you is my symptoms were as you describe yours to be. I've attached the work sheet for your interest, its running lovely now, no clunking from park to drive or reverse anymore, no fluctuation of the speedo needle ( something I now only understand was and indicator of the problem, have you noticed this before limp mode kicked in.)? Sorry I cant be of more help, but Andy at AWJ has looked after my last three Jags and I trust him, he's got me up and running a few times when I've experienced a break down. cheers pezzzer
  2. That's exactly the experience I had Gary, the dsc and abs failure is indeed a wheel sensor failure. Also the gearbox failure came up last Wednesday evening and the car did drop into limp mode as you suspected. Took it to my local Indy and they diagnosed my problem as the half shaft so fingers crossed bud yours could be the same.
  3. Well, after waiting for a suitable time to get the car into AWJ during the week, I was driving home Wednesday evening and experienced an almighty shudder from the rear of the car, it went straight into 'limp' mode and the dreaded 'gearbox fault' lit up on the dash. Oh b@ll#&ks I thought! Arranged to take it in the garage the next morning, fearing the worst I waited for the dreaded phone call which dully arrived......... it turns out that the problems I had been experiencing weren't due to the software on the transmission, but the half shaft was on its way out and when it failed the car went into 'limp' mode to protect the gearbox. So with that they replaced the half shaft, sway link arm and a few other bits and pieces £367 all done. Picking it up in around an hours time...... you're looking at one happy bunny!!
  4. Jag been into the garage last weekend for software upgrade and it failed to accept it again (4th time). Been asked if I could possibly bring it in during the week so that Jaguar can log into it a find out what's going on with it. £££ Pass the smelling salts nurse!!!
  5. mine in my local this Friday Dave, I'll feed my experience back on this thread bud.
  6. Hi guys, check this out http://thelurch.com/ ZF menu tab on the right hand side
  7. Mine does the same, the message comes and goes. Been told by my local garage that its speed sensor on one of the rear wheels.
  8. Cheers guys, yes Pete I think it was originally made for a garment of some kind, I was thinking more racing overalls seeing as its got a chequered flag type background. Also the 'X' is intriguing at the bottom, is it a 10 year anniversary badge of some kind or is it just part of the chevron pattern.
  9. cheers Joe, good advice. I will get it in as soon as I can. Think my closest dealer would be Stratstone in Hanley. Thanks again bud, I will report back.
  10. hi Joe, AWJ Automotive on Sutherland Rd, Longton, Stoke on Trent.
  11. hi Joe, its not something I personally attempt bud. The garage is my local jag Indy. I was just asking if anyone has had a similar experience because they are having this issue with mine. I trust the garage as they've looked after my last three jags. He does say that when my car is plugged, no info comes up on the screen to do with gearbox type, version, software version etc. suspect its my car and not the garage.
  12. Hi all, not been about for a bit, hope you all keeping well? Finally I was able to find the time to take the S Type 3.0 Sport 200 for the necessary software upgrade a couple of months back. First time, couldn't get the software to load so the garage loaded it manually and tied to run the car through the necessary 'learning' mirage. Seemed ok for a while then the erratic gear changes started to appear again along with the dreaded 'slamming' into gear at low speed and the occasional 'thrumming' noise coming from the torque converter (this happens when it decides to change gear and the revs are too low for that gear). Second time, no go at all, car wouldn't accept the software at any price. Third time, booked the car in for a full day for investigation, still cant find out why the car isn't accepting the software. Any ideas guys, anyone come across this?
  13. I was handed this badge today by a work colleague. The story is that his aunty used to work at the Cecilly Mill factory in Cheadle, Staffordshire and he was given it as a momento when he was a younger lad. He kept it for 43 years before passing it on. Apparently, he goes on to tell me, that this factory used to produce the official football shirt crests that were to be sown on the jerseys of some of the Midlands clubs so it all seems to fit that this may be a piece of history, albeit a minor piece. Are there any club historians that could possibly shed any further light on this badge?
