  1. just seen your post, while researching a usb connectivity issue. I've had that happen a couple of times while driving along, touched the light and thought nothing more of it, but I have been having headlight issues. When I first bought the car 2011 XF-S (60), it had had a HD Led conversion which when I took it for an MOT had to be changed because the law changed last April. So I had the conversion ripped out and put 'night breakers' in but then every few months one of the bulbs would blow and thinking about it now when I changed the bulb I had the random interior light experience!! (Now running on the standard bulbs for around a month with no issues, think it might be a voltage/ampage thing). No idea if this makes any sense to anyone, but just thought i'd add my story.

    Hello

Here's mine, had a couple of issues with it so far but nothing that spoiled the enjoyment of ownership. Passenger door not opening with the central locking, number plate bulb failure (new rear boot harness sorted it).

    Hello

That's a real clean looking motor Jon, well done. Looks lovely mate.
  4. woohoo, exciting times. Welcome to the Jag club dude.😀
  5. an update on the number plate bulb issue, swapped them round at the weekend and still the same, so it must be the holder I thought. Washed the car on Sunday, now it thinks the boot is open all the time and wont let me lock it with the fob. Quick call this morning (Monday) to be local independent and he says its more likely to be the wiring harness in the boot lid as they are renowned for wire breakages in the loom. Its already booked in for some work on the headlights on the 24th so its another job on the current list, which now reads as: Reverse the HID Headlight conversion a previous owner fitted. (now illegal and an MOT failure). Passenger door doesn't always unlock with the fob. (irritates the wife immensely lol) Number plate lights, boot open issue - new wiring loom. Better go see the bank manager I think!😥

    Hello

That’s beautiful Jon, roll on October eh?! Any history with it Jon?
  7. Hi Pete, I can remember you telling me that a few years ago. I can remember having a visit to Shelton Works when I was looking at apprenticeships, I also interviewed at The Mich as well. I'm in engineering to this day working for a small firm that supply JCB with parts. I'm not a mechanical engineer but quality based.
  8. shh, I don't like admitting it but yes lol
  9. wow, that's a good saving Pete, it may be worth my trip down there, hold on just checking the old maps...... yep just a quick fly down the A51. Cheers Pete

    Hello

Halfords seem to be the to go, cheers guys I will definitely look into that.
  11. Not sure if its at all relevant, but I had a S Type 3.0 S 2003, it too went into limp mode with all sorts of warning lights on, managed to drive to my local indie, and too my surprise diagnosed a rear half shaft (I was thinking it was gearbox and terminal because of the thumping as reverse was selected) but credit where credits due, he changed it and it was sweet as a nut after that. Very strange I thought at the time.

    Hello

Hi John, have you any pics of it? My biggest problem of Dash Cams is all the wires hanging down, did Halfords hide them behind trim?
  13. That's good to know Pete, where in the midlands is the place?
  14. That's a scary story lol as far as I am aware its just a bog standard fitting bulb not LED (cos the light emitted is a warm glow not a cold bright one). I have checked the fitting again and notice a browning (burnt) tarnish on the plastic holder, which I'm assuming isn't good news! First thing first though, as Ian suggests go get another just to rule out I didn't buy a dud, failing that it may be auto electrician time. But it does seem like the holder may have something to do with it.
  15. My 2011 XF recently passed an MOT so I know it was working previously. I found the right hand number plate bulb had gone, dropped into Halfords picked one up, fitted it in the car park, still no joy?!! Not a special breed of number plate bulb are they guys?
  16. Hi Umar, first impression mate, that mightily cheap for an R of that year, I paid that for my 2011 XFS. So that itself would send alarm bells ringing in my head, especially with the advert saying 'its and easy fix'! If its easy go do it and charge £16000 where it probably should be price wise.

    Hello

Hi Jon, I too am new to the XF but have previously other Jaguars, I asked a similar question when I collected my 2011 XFS Luxury a few weeks ago. I asked my local independent if my radio could be upgraded to DAB but was told it would be a whole new head unit, the one you have in your Portfolio, so I pulled back from that idea as the benefits over cost wouldn't be in ratio. I only say because I would suspect that if your unit can, then it would be a software upgrade as you have to top edition of the ice for that year. Best course of action find your local or any independent and ask them bud.
  18. Booked in with my local independent, who has given a ball park figure of £220 for an hour and a half job (wow!). Must be some expensive parts!!
  19. Hi everyone Pezzzer here, I have been a member for a few years when tragedy struck in the form of arthritis in the hip joint. I was the owner of a 3.0S S-Type which wanted for nothing, ufortunately I started experiencing pain issues getting in and out of the beauty (barrel rolling out of it on occasion) so it had to go. Purchased a temporary fix in the form of a Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.4 SZ4, just for the ride height, but that turned out a pile of s"*te, anyhoo cut a short story long, hip fixed (replaced), now the proud owner of an XF S Luxury for the last four weeks. I haven't stopped smiling yet. Hi to all in XF forums new and old members.
  20. Only had my 2011 XFS 4 weeks and the passenger side door packed in unlocking from the fob, driving the wife loopy lol..............might just leave it a while longer before fixing !!
  21. comes to us all lol, I've been suffering with that for years! You know you're in trouble when you climb the stairs with an intention, then when you get to the top, can't remember why you made the trip.
  22. Hi Joe, no mate I ran the car with the abs and dsc failure for around three months with any issues other than the dash lights coming on every now and then but no limp mode until the drive shaft gave way. cheers Kev
  23. Hi Paul, yes mate already posted that link, very informative and was my start point when my issues began.
