  4. I know what you mean bud. I've had enough of this club, i'm off to find another one!!
  5. Hi George many thanks for the info. I've managed to track down a set of 18" spoked X Type wheels along with fitted tyres bud, so should be no problems with the technical side of things. I'm beginning to get a bit disenchanted with these forums, you get loads of folks looking at threads but no one actually seems to reply or comment. Steve is pretty good though, but he does have the whole website to trawl so he's spreading himself a little thin.
  6. Hi all, and thanks again to all who shared the knowledge on this subject........ again NONE of you lol. Ended up booking it in a Jaguar specialists and they identified the problem as a corroded rocker cover, FYI this problem does not seem to affect the rear rocker cover. Managed to procure one off a 2005 model in a breakers yard for £20, the local Stratstone Jag dealer charges £150. If anyone else has this problem be sure to order the spark plug well inner seal as well as the rocker seal as they don't come as a "seal kit" like on other vehicles.
  7. Looking for some nice 18" wheels now........ oh why bother, no one answers you on here. :(
  8. Hi all and many thanks to all who helped me out with the identification of the heated windscreen relay........ all NONE of ya lol. All identified after a trip to halfords looking through a Haynes manual that had been opened.... ooops wasn't me guv, it was like that when i picked it up!! All sorted and tested, almost looking forward to winter now.
  9. Hi all, can anyone supply me with any details of the heated windscreen relay, model number specs etc? I've recently upgraded the windscreen to a heated one after finding that all the wiring looms and interior buttons were on the car. Is this relay a dealer only part or is there an off the shelf eqivalent? Any help would be appreciated, a photo of the pin arrangement would be great. [email protected]
  10. Hi all, has anyone had an oil leak from the valve cover on a 2.1 V6 x type and changed the gasket? Is it a diy job or am I best booking it in the local Jag specialists?

  12. Any one know how the shroud on the wing mirrors are fixed cos mines loose? Somebody has walked into it i think!!
  13. Not too sure of the history of the car, but pretty sure its been a reps car in the past. I'm the 4th owner since first registration. Took it for the MOT test last week and it flew through with no problems or observations whatsoever, but the guy commented on how low the emmisions were for this engine, he said that most 2 litre new cars don't have emmisions this low. Not bad then considering it's a 52 plate with 182500 miles on the clock!
  14. I had a similar problem with the central locking, it let me lock the car remotely but when i came back to the car i couldn't unlock it with the remote, it would only unlock manually with the key and as you say you have to be a bit spritely in getting the key in the ignition or the alarm sounds. Had me going for a couple of days this until I realised that the steering lock wasn't activating after removing the key from the ignition. There is a small sprung switch/pin in the ignition barrel that wasn't returning when the key was removed, a squirt of WD40 down the barrel and a bit of working with the key sorted it out. No problem since. Worth a look Trevor.
  15. I have the same model bud, and exactly the same message, but mine has the microphone fitted in the roof light cluster above the windscreen and it had a bracket fitted to the left of the centre entertainment console. I removed this when i changed the mini disc to a cd based radio, but noticed a wire that had been cut in the same area as the bracket, so I assume that it would have been a hard wired system. As far as I can tell it has no after market use what so ever, I don't think it would have had Bluetooth fitted either. If it has I would be surprised if todays smartphones would connect to it as they have a different version of Bluetooth spec. If you find out anything different let me know bud.
